Our tours were very great
Arrive Bamako and transfer to the hotel.
At 9:00 am, leave the hotel and head to town for the city tour. We visit the Bamako Zoo, The national Museum, the Independence Monument, the Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Huge Bamako Open Market. At 1pm, we go for Lunch at one of the prestigious restaurants on the bank or river Niger. After 2pm, we visit the traditional Malian Music School in Kirina - few kilometers away for Bamako. At 5pm we return to the hotel to get set for Dinner and the nightlife of Bamako.
At 08:00 we will depart Bamako for the Guinea border crossing at Kouremale (approx 2 hours). After undergoing border formalities on both sides (1-2 hours) we’ll continue to Niagassola where the sacred Balafon (“Le Soso Bala”) is located. In September 2018 a new premises was built to house the Balafon. One room contains the Balafon, while another room holds its substitute and a library. It is claimed that the Balafon dates back to 1205. Today it is conserved by the Kouyate family and can only be played by the eldest male member of the family. It can be brought out and played in public only once a year – on the Muslim Festival “fete du nouvel musselman”. On other days, though it is not played, the town people will entertain us with other balaphones. Afterwards we drive to Siguiri where we will stay overnight.
Depart Siguiri and travel to Kankan, on the way we have have the privilege to drive on the side of River Niger.
Morning tour of Kankan, visiting the Great Mosque (built in 1770, making it one of the oldest mosques in West Africa), the Sundiata Keita Museum, the Old train Station, the Independence Square, Catholic Compound and the markets. In the afternoon, we visit the Kouyate family to witness Djenbefo (Drumming) and dancing..
After breakfast, we start our journey to Labe passing through some of Guinea’s most prominent cities as well as admiring the beautiful villages with styled thatched houses.
Labe is the capital city of Fouta Djallon, the region of Fulani people and the region’s largest market. Places to visit include Weaving Guilds, National Agriculture Center where we can find local potted honey for sale, the Market (where we can find professional shoemakers), and the Museum (a little one though).
At 08 am, we depart from Labe and head to the border to undergo border formalities and head to Gabu. After checking into our rooms, have lunch and walk to the market to buy Cashew nut and other things of our choice.
Today arrive in Bissau, a city uniquely different from all other with all of it’s taxis Mercedes, same color and same model. We head to the oldest part of town where our hotel and important administrative offices are located.
After breakfast, we have to make sure to be at the fishing port by 8am when the fishermen have all arrived to make business with the market women (a great site). After, we visit the Portuguese castle, the main port, the presidential palace, the colonial catholic church, the market etc.
We all wait for our flight time to fly home or other destinations.
